Is it Possible to Treat Malocclusion, TMJ and Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders Simultaneously?

COLOGNE, 12 March 2019: Myofunctional Research Company (MRC) announced today that it will introduce its new Myosa® for TMJBDS treatment range on day one of the International Dental Show (IDS) 2019.

As the global epidemic of Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders (SRBD) continues to affect millions of people of all ages, dental practitioners have become more cognisant of dysfunctional breathing as a contributing factor to a wide range of physical, dental and mental health problems.

This was internationally recognised in September, 2018, when the World Dental Federation (FDI) publicly highlighted the important role of dentists in prevention, early screening and treatment of Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders (SRBD) moving forward.

To satisfy the increasing demand for natural solutions to the growing epidemic of orthodontic and sleep-related breathing issues, MRC has developed an innovative range of Myosa® appliances specially designed to treat patients who suffer from TMJ and Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders (SRBD).

MRC CEO and founder Dr Chris Farrell believes the new TMJBDS treatment system will be a gamechanger for the dental and medical professions.

“Sleep dentistry is an area many practitioners are exploring at the moment, and we have coupled the treatment of airway dysfunction and TMJ disorder into one combined treatment system,” Farrell said. “The causes of both issues are interrelated and therefore can be treated under one modality,” he added.

The Myosa for TMJBDS range of myofunctional sleep appliances offers practitioners the opportunity to broaden their scope of treatment and increase patient flow by presenting avenues to practice sleep dentistry and treatment for TMJ disorder. The Myosa for TMJBDS range is being showcased at MRC’s IDS 2019 booth.
