OVERVIEW
Completion of this course will result in qualification as a Myobrace® Certified Educator. The course is open to dental assistants, dental hygienists, oral health therapists, dentists, orthodontists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, ENTs and sleep physicians.
This course will include the basics in anatomy and physiology of the orofacial musculature. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from the world's pre-eminent experts in the field and gain an insight into the only myofunctional system that has been successfully integrated into dental, orthodontic, TMJ Disorder (TMD) and sleep practices in over 100 countries worldwide.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is suitable for practices who have completed MRC’s other training programs and are already providing Myobrace® treatment but want to provide it at the highest level by training a fully certified educator to enhance the delivery of Myobrace® treatment.
COURSE TOPICS
- History of myofunctional therapy and traditional myofunctional techniques;
- Functional anatomy and physiology, related to breathing and orofacial musculature;
- Myobrace® Activities intensive workshop and troubleshooting;
- How to conduct a proper consultation and evaluation of myofunctional disorders;
- Case studies;
- Habit elimination (e.g. thumb sucking);
- Latest research and exercises related to Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) and sleep apnoea;
- How to conduct a Myobrace® Educator (ME) Check, a myofunctional evaluation form completed at each appointment to accurately quantify improvement, thereby determining progression of treatment;
- How to conduct an activity support session and a special myofunctional troubleshooting appointment if treatment is not progressing as expected.

Dr Ana Lorena Gómez
Dr. Ana Lorena Gómez beoefent al 27 jaar de algemene tandheelkunde. Haar praktijk gaf 17 jaar lang uitsluitend orthodontische behandeling, maar in 2009 heeft ze het Myobrace® systeem als een reguliere behandeling voor haar patiënten opgenomen. Dit resulteerde in een toename van het aantal behandelde patiënten en betere resultaten qua stabiliteit van de gevallen en harmonie van het gezicht. Dr. Gómez deelt haar ervaring over hoe zij de manier waarop zij de eerste diagnoses stelde veranderde door er myofunctionele evaluaties in op te nemen. Zo was ze in staat het probleem van de slechte functie eerder en als onderdeel van een integrale preventieve orthodontische behandeling aan te pakken, waardoor de manier waarop de zorg werd verleend veranderde.

Mevrouw Kelly Baker begon haar carrière als tandartsassistente op de middelbare school en werd vervolgens geregistreerd mondhygiëniste. Zij vervolgde haar opleiding in de tandheelkunde door meer te leren over klinische toepassingen van technieken en behaalde haar vergunning voor lokale anesthesie in 2008. In oktober van datzelfde jaar volgde zij een IAOM-cursus om myofunctioneel therapeut te worden. Na 19 jaar als geregistreerd mondhygiëniste en orofaciaal myofunctioneel therapeut werkzaam te zijn geweest, heeft zij de rol van hoofdopleider in de VS bij MRC op zich genomen, waar zij haar passie en geloof in myofunctionele therapie tot uitdrukking heeft kunnen brengen.
