OVERVIEW
MRC’s 2024 Latin Summit will teach you the myofunctional evaluation system to identify breathing and myofunctional problems limiting facial growth and causing malocclusion, as well as provide you with the ability to treat myofunctional problems evident in almost every child.
The three-day summit includes workshops by leading myofunctional orthodontic practitioners on how to diagnose and treat airway dysfunction, TMJ Disorder (TMD) and malocclusion.

Dr Chris Farrell
BDS
Dr. Chris Farrell is in 1971 afgestudeerd aan de Universiteit van Sydney, waar hij uitgebreide kennis van de traditionele orthodontie aan de hand van de BEGG-techniek heeft opgedaan. Door zijn klinische ervaring heeft dr. Farrell interesse gekregen voor kaakgewrichtsstoornissen. Na verder onderzoek ontdekte hij dat de etiologie van malocclusie en kaakgewrichtsstoornissen myofunctioneel is. Dit was in tegenspraak met de bestaande beroepsopvattingen. In 1989 richtte dr. Farrell de Myofunctional Research Co. (MRC) op voor het ontwikkelen van myofunctionele appliances die doeltreffend bleken bij vroege orthodontische behandeling. De Trainer en Myobrace® appliance systemen worden inmiddels door orthodontisten en tandartsen in meer dan 100 landen over de hele wereld toegepast.
Dr Ana Lorena Gómez
Dr. Ana Lorena Gómez beoefent al 27 jaar de algemene tandheelkunde. Haar praktijk gaf 17 jaar lang uitsluitend orthodontische behandeling, maar in 2009 heeft ze het Myobrace® systeem als een reguliere behandeling voor haar patiënten opgenomen. Dit resulteerde in een toename van het aantal behandelde patiënten en betere resultaten qua stabiliteit van de gevallen en harmonie van het gezicht. Dr. Gómez deelt haar ervaring over hoe zij de manier waarop zij de eerste diagnoses stelde veranderde door er myofunctionele evaluaties in op te nemen. Zo was ze in staat het probleem van de slechte functie eerder en als onderdeel van een integrale preventieve orthodontische behandeling aan te pakken, waardoor de manier waarop de zorg werd verleend veranderde.
Dr Stephen Carstensen
DDS
Dr Stephen Carstensen, DDS, is a skilled dentist serving patients at Premier Sleep Associates in Bellevue, Washington. He also serves as a consultant to the American Dental Association (ADA) for Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders (SRBD) and co-author of a textbook for dentists treating the disease. In 1983, Dr Carstensen graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in Houston, Texas. Afterward, he and his dental hygienist wife, Midge, started a private general dentistry practice in Texas before moving to native Seattle in 1990. In 1996, he achieved a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentists (AGD) in recognition of over 3000 hours of advanced education in dentistry, with an increasing amount of time in practice and classwork devoted to sleep medicine. A lifelong educator, Dr Carstensen is currently the sleep education director for both Pankey Institute and Spear Education, recognised as among the finest places for dentists to further their education. As a volunteer leader for the ADA, he was a program chairman and general chairman for the Annual Session, the biggest educational event the association sponsors. For the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), he’s been a board member, secretary-treasurer, and president-elect. In 2006, he achieved certification from the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM).
Dr John Flutter

Dr. Flutter heeft bijna 40 jaar zowel algemene tandheelkunde als orthodontie beoefend en is nu uitsluitend werkzaam in de dentofaciale orthopedie en orthodontie voor volwassenen en kinderen. Dr. Flutter is al meer dan tien jaar betrokken bij MRC en heeft in talrijke landen lezingen gehouden over myofunctionele invloeden en gezichtsgroei.
